"Where You’re More Than a Client — You’re Family"

A Team You Can Trust

Located in the peaceful countryside of Independence, Virginia, Tommy Vass, age 53, brings over 30 years of heartfelt ministry and service to individuals with disabilities. Through his life’s work, Tommy has formed deep, meaningful connections with people of all ages — especially those living with Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and other exceptionalities. With a natural gift for empathy and understanding, Tommy creates a safe, personal, and uplifting environment for everyone he welcomes into his home. Tommy is supported by his wife Candi, a registered nurse with over 30 years of experience. Candi’s medical expertise and loving heart are available when needed, providing added peace of mind for families. Adding even more personal understanding to the Vass Home is Tommy’s autistic stepson, who brings a beautiful perspective and further deepens Tommy’s compassionate approach to care.

The Vass Home Experience

Nestled just 2 miles from downtown Independence, the Vass Home offers the best of both worlds — the serenity of a rural cottage and the convenience of being close to town. When you’re part of the Vass Home, you’re not just receiving care — you’re joining the Vass extended family. Relax on the large back deck as you take in breathtaking views of open pastures and distant mountains. Watch horses and cows graze, or enjoy the local wildlife — deer, rabbits, and a variety of birds — that frequently visit the yard. In summer, enjoy evenings by the fire pit roasting s’mores, or cool off with a refreshing slice of watermelon while watching the sunset. In winter, sip hot chocolate by the cozy fireplace and enjoy the snow falling outside the French doors.
